Knitting Yarn Stores
About Us - Online Yarn Shop
I started knitting when I was 5 thanks to a very patient aunt and haven't put my needles or crochet hooks down since!
I love the look of hand made knitted garments as there's something so personal and very special about them - take a look at some of our clients' handiwork here.
I'm an Interior Designer by trade but a knitter by choice so I thought I'd finally give in to my first love and set up the yarn shop, so if you're asking yourself "where can I buy yarn online", try us out - we hope to be one of your favourite stores. I'm sure we're doing something right as we've now had to move to bigger premises 5 times, dealt with over 59,000 orders(!) and become the largest online yarn store in Europe! Now I don't have to go out shopping for wool yarn, I'm surrounded by it in the wool shop!
Now I've got my own range of hand picked yarns that are the best I could find too.
I'm looking to make this place the best of the online yarn stores with the finest knitting and crochet yarns and patterns as well as offering friendly advice and help whenever it's needed. If we can't help you, we will always try to find someone who can, and if we don't stock what you are looking for please ask as it might be coming in soon. Our advice is free, you only buy from us if you want to and we hope we've made it as easy as possible for you to purchase yarn online. We have now also added our own Wish List.
We are always looking to expand our range of wool, crochet and knitting supplies and we're getting new and exciting "must haves" in all the time.
You may want to take a peek at our knitting forums where everyone can make some new knitting friends; now with over 900 members, we sure have!
Although our yarn shop is based on the south coast of the UK, we ship orders all over the world, with clients that buy from Malaysia, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan, China and Mauritius to name just a few. I am really pleased to say that many of our clients have become friends too, not only with me but with all of our staff.
If you have any comments or requests we would really like to hear them, we would like you to think that we are as friendly as your local yarn stores and shops. Contact Us.
While we are the largest online store in Europe and hold more stock than any of our contemporaries it is not possible for us to hold stock of all our 5,500+ products 100% of the time.
Unlike nearly all other types of retailing, holding stock of, for example, 20 of one particular item is never a guarantee of being able to supply every order. It is fine for books that are bought one at a time but every day we are as likely to have orders for 18 balls as we are 2.
To fulfil orders we also need to take into account the dye lots - we may have more than enough of a colour to supply an order but because of different dye lots we need to order more so that they match. As an example, we recently had an order for 13 balls of one colour but even though we had 40 available we had to order in another 2 packs of 10 as we hadn't enough in a matching dye lot - unfortunately this is a daily occurrence!
We are also at the mercy of our suppliers, some of whom we will be dropping over the coming months, and their ability to service our orders. If our supplier doesn't have a product in stock, and we have no control over this, then we cannot fulfil any orders for it and accept no responsibility for the delay.
Dye Lot Enquiries
Please bear with us when making enquiries about dye lots as it can be very time consuming to search through what can be up to 5 large boxes completely full with yarn to try and find a few balls in a matching lot. The best way is for you to place an order and email us with the Cart ID provided and we will amend the order to ask that it is matched.
