Beth Russell Lodden Cushion / Chair Seat Needlepoint

Lodden was designed by William Morris as a cotton or linen fabric and was printed at his works in Merton Abbey in 1884. The printing was done by hand, using hand-carved blocks usually made of pear wood.

Lodden is one of William Morris's most complex designs. It is intricate without looking contrived. The original textile has a light background, but we offer the choice of a dark blue or a pastel grey-blue background.

Morris' original background was light. The colours in the kit are designed to blend well with the Strawberry Thieves and Lodden works as well with Morris' favorite indigo blue background as the original.

Beth Russell has adapted Lodden into two needlepoint kits. Each is beautifully printed on strong polished de luxe canvas which is large enough to be made into either cushions or chair seats.
Sufficient wool is included to stitch an area approximately 13x17" (33x43cm).

Canvas Size 22" x 26" (56cm x 66cm).

Kit contains instructions, needle, hand-Printed 14 Mesh Zweigart White Mono De Luxe Canvas and Appleton crewel wools.
